It's always exciting when Kia wins an award, recognition, or breaks a sales record. What's even more exciting to report on however, is when the automaker reaches a major milestone.  Recently Kia celebrated the production of its one millionth new Kia model within the United States at its West Point, Georgia facility, a feat that certainly deserves quite the celebration.

The one millionth model to roll off the assembly line was a shiny white 2014 Kia Sorento in SXL trim. The Sorento model has been in production at the Georgia facility since 2009. After investing $1 billion into plant and adding over 11,000 more jobs, the facility has undergone an impressive expansion. In 2011, it also added the popular Kia Optima sedan to its production lineup.

Byung Mo Ahn, Group President and CEO for Kia Motors America, explains the significance of this milestone, stating, "Building one million vehicles in less than four years is a tremendous achievement and one that each one of our more than 3,000 team members can take great pride in. People are the heart and soul of this company, and our team members' commitment to world class quality is one of the major driving forces behind Kia's unprecedented sales and market share growth in the U.S. over the last few years."1
