When placing the Kia Optima beside its biggest competitor, the Honda Accord, there was once a time when the Optima was not always the victor. With all of the latest improvements that have been made to the model's redesign however, the sedan has come a long way to become the model that is hard to beat.

Each of the vehicles are pretty evenly matched when looking at fuel efficiency, since they both feature four-cylinder engines. The two models feature nearly identical cargo capacity as well. However, the Optima model excels in several other areas. In terms of performance its engine cranks out 200 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, slightly more powerful than the Accord which only generates 185 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque.

When looking at the overall style of each model, it's hard to say which one is the winner since this category is so subjective. Although the Optima has received quite a bit of praise for its impressive redesign that kicked off Kia's initiative to introduce more style to its new Kia lineup.

In the price category, the Optima comes out on top as well. It has an MSPR of $21,350, when compared to the slightly more expensive Accord with its MSPR of $21,680. In our opinion here at Lancaster Kia, what really places the Optima above the Accord is that it comes with a hybrid option. For drivers who want to save a little extra on fuel, the efficient Kia Optima Hybrid is available for just $25,900.
